Flowers by Forster in July

What’s in Season in July?

If you’ve ever wondered what’s in season when it comes to flowers, July is a brilliant place to start. Gardens are overflowing, bees are busy, and everything’s a bit wild—in the best way.

This is the time of year where you can grab a pair of scissors, head outside, and fill a vase with something beautiful from your own patch—even if it’s just a few pots.

And if you think garden flowers don’t last well indoors, I’m here to tell you they absolutely can… if you pick the right ones and treat them well.

🌿 What’s Looking Lovely Just Now

July’s garden flowers have that loose, natural, blowsy look we love at Flowers by Forster. Some of our favourite stems this month are:

  • Sweet peas – still going strong and as scented as ever

  • Cosmos – floaty, delicate and look great in a jam jar

  • Achillea – great for texture and lasts well

  • Snapdragons – bold and cheerful, lovely in a jug

  • Scabious – soft little heads that add bounce

  • Herbs – mint, fennel, rosemary and dill for scent and softness

  • Garden roses – often with a wee bend or quirk, but full of scent

Even a small bud vase or jar with 2 or 3 stems can make a big impact dotted around the house.

A Few Tips to Help Them Last

Many people are convinced that flowers grown in the UK don’t last long, however, with a little tlc, many of them last well in a vase. Here’s how to help them along:

  • Cut first thing in the morning or in the evening when it’s cooler

  • Choose flowers just about to open – not in full bloom

  • Remove any leaves that would sit in the water

  • Get them into clean, cool water as soon as you can

  • Snip the ends again when arranging, and change the water every couple of days.
